everybody should read a j.d. salinger book today.

and not just because it's his birthday.

"catcher in the rye" is a classic and a must-read, of course. but i also like "franny and zooey".

...

it's not that i truly believed in them. after all, i was the same kid who didn't have to be told that it wasn't santa mommy was kissing underneath the mistletoe that night.

but i don't know, i used to catch myself scanning over my horoscope (after i read the comics and tried to do the crossword puzzle) to see what the stars have to say about the state of my lovelife, finances, relationships, and health. apart from the humor and entertainment those things gift you with, i think there was a small part of me that was always curious to see if any of those horoscope predictions will ever come true. and i guess it's always consoling to convince yourself that any unfortunate incident was beyond your control - "the alignment of heavenly bodies declared it so" was as good an excuse for ill judgment and incompetence as any.

well, it's been ages since i've checked my daily horoscope. common sense prevailed in the end.

no two objects can occupy the same space at the same time.

i may have struggled to pass physics, but i'm sure about that.

...

thank you for all the greets, the warm wishes, the cards, the calls, the emails, the messages, and all the love.

i can't even remember the last time i threw a party, but if i do (and just to give you a heads up, i'm seriously considering "alice and the mad hatter's tea party" as a theme), you're sure to be on the guest list.

and i'll let you all eat cake. promise.

good things come in the tiniest of packages.
